Our Services: Children and Adolescents

Children should have an initial orthodontic evaluation between 7-8 years old. Many developing orthodontic problems can be detected at this early age and treatment can be recommended as appropriate. Although treatment at this stage of development may not completely eliminate the need for future treatment, early orthodontic treatment can prevent a developing problem from becoming a larger more complex problem later. Much of what is done at an early age will simplify future treatment, and make the ultimate orthodontic result more stable and long-lasting.

Most adolescents are ready for orthodontic treatment between 11-13 years old. Your dentist can best advise you when to see an orthodontist. However, if you have concerns or questions, or you're just not sure, an initial orthodontic evaluation would be advisable.
